My own journey to finding a healthy lifestyle has granted me invaluable insights into the myriad challenges one encounters. This experience has allowed me to cultivate a deep sense of empathy, respect, and understanding, which I bring to my coaching. I started out as a passionate runner, challenging myself in multiple Hawaii Ironman races, and eventually discovered the incredible benefits of Nordic Skiing as an engine builder. Through CrossFit, I found a whole new level of strength and athleticism.

As a USSS accredited L100 Nordic Ski coach and the Head Coach of the Sheridan High School Nordic team, I have extensive experience in coaching endurance sports. Additionally, as a Level 1 CrossFit coach and trainer at our local gym, I have developed a profound expertise in fostering proper functional movement.

Being an engineer at heart, I thoroughly enjoy diving deep into data analysis to help you find what works best for your unique body and life situation. I strongly believe in the power of polarized training and the efficacy of HIIT for increasing movement quality, incorporating quality weight lifting and gymnastic movements.

Train, Test, Tweak, Repeat

Training time is a precious commodity. To ensure optimal performance, a highly personalized training protocol is imperative. Relying on guesswork without proper testing leaves us uncertain about the extent of our progress and the untapped potential within us. That's why our coaching approach places significant emphasis on testing. Our testing is either lactate based taking blood samples, or a set of short maximum efforts using only a heart rate monitor, GPS watch, and for cycling a power meter. From the captured data we derive all metabolic markers. This allows us to test both the aerobic (oxidative) and anaerobic (glycolytic) engines. Athletic performance is a product of the interplay of these two engines.

We unlock the key to achieving your utmost potential in endurance races by zone 2 based training to increase mitochondria, interval based training to maximize VO2max, and strategically fine-tuning "just enough" anaerobic power to maximize FTP. Moreover, establishing a robust aerobic engine to combat fatigue during workouts can serve as a stepping stone towards reaching new heights as a CrossFitter. For ultra-endurance athletes we optimize training to maximize fat combustion and provide insight into budgeting for carbohydrates.
